XYLOTHEKS: WONDROUS BOOKS THAT HOLD WOODEN COLLECTIONS

Hello Friends,
Welcome to Xylothek!
Do you know what a Xylothek is?
Check out the great article above to find out more!

I didn't know what a Xylothek was until I started digging deep into research for an project at The Museum for Art in Wood. I got to work with a small group of Philadelphia artists and The Center to develop an exhibition based on works that were a response to objects in the M4AW collection.
Info about the project is below:

Artists are explorers and inspiration is everywhere!
The blog hopes to provide you with some interesting paths to travel as you read through weekly articles about art history, current artistic trends, exhibition reviews, and contemporary artist's websites.

The "Vitamin A" section will contain contemporary artist's website links. You may recognize many artists we have studied in class. The "Saturday Morning Coffee" section is chock full of nutritious, brain broadening nuggets to stimulate our collective creativity and just be generally groovy! The sidebar will include links to museums, galleries and important research resources.

Please click on the tabs above for your class information and assignments. Feel free to email me or add a comment here on the blog whenever you have questions or want to discuss a topic. Be sure to schedule a "meet" with me whenever you feel the need HERE.
I hope you enjoy!
Best,
Ms. Saulin
